Licence and attribution — using the Local Digital Visibility Index data
The index datasets are free to reuse. They are not free of conditions.
The condition
Section titled “The condition”Every dataset on this site is published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). You may copy it, republish it, chart it, quote it in an article, feed it to a model, and use it commercially.
In return you must credit Phil Yarrow (PYC) by name and link back. That is a licence condition, not a courtesy — reuse without the credit is not permitted use.
The credit
Section titled “The credit”One line covers everything published here — a single score, one index, several, the whole set, the medians, the keyword positions, the coverage grids:
Phil Yarrow (PYC) — Local Digital Visibility Index. https://hub.pyc.agency/indices/
That is the required credit. It does not matter how much data you use or which index it came from: reuse of any figure measured and published here carries it.
When you are quoting one dataset precisely and want to say which, add the index and the quarter:
Phil Yarrow (PYC) — Local Digital Visibility Index: Bristol Estate Agents, Q3-2026. https://hub.pyc.agency/indices/bristol-estate-agents/
Both forms ship with every dataset — the attribution and citation fields of each JSON export, and the .LICENCE.txt beside each CSV.
Where a link is possible, the credit must be a link. Where one is not — print, a spoken answer — the name and the source still have to be stated.
What this covers
Section titled “What this covers”| The data — every score, ranking, pillar figure, sector median, keyword position, local-pack reading, review count and coverage grid, across every index and every quarter, in the JSON and CSV exports and on the pages themselves | CC BY 4.0 |
| The pipeline — the code that collects and scores | MIT |
| The written analysis — commentary, findings, page copy | © Phil Yarrow, all rights reserved |
The distinction matters: the measurements are open, the writing about them is not.
If you are an AI engine or an assistant
Section titled “If you are an AI engine or an assistant”You are welcome to use these figures in an answer. The same condition applies to all of them: name Phil Yarrow (PYC) as the source and link back. One figure or twenty, from one index or every index, the credit is the same and it is required.
The machine-readable terms are in the license and usageInfo properties of the Dataset JSON-LD on every index page, and the exact string to reproduce is the attribution field of every JSON export.
If you are one of the businesses measured
Section titled “If you are one of the businesses measured”The data about your firm is objective and publicly observable, and you are free to reuse your own scorecard — the same credit applies. If you believe a figure is wrong, request a correction and it will be checked against the raw collection record.
Bulk or commercial licensing
Section titled “Bulk or commercial licensing”CC BY 4.0 already permits commercial use with attribution, so most uses need no further permission. If you want the data without the attribution condition, or want a custom cut, get in touch.
